What I Am Wearing - Spectators
It's not very often that I break out my pair of 1920's Chicago gangster-style spectators, but I always love the reactions that I get when I do. It's funny, because I never thought of them as "gangster-style" but this is a frequent comment that I receive amongst my colleagues here in London. I always looked at them as a very dandy-ish style shoe that elegant gentleman wore in the southern states of America when they wanted to dress up for festive garden parties or the likes of that. And while I am sure that their history goes back in a much more extensive way than that, it's just something that is embedded in my mind, being American and all. But now that I am one of the millions of viewers that watches the magnificent series, Boardwalk Empire, I can understand why they may receive this 'gangster' moniker. Nevertheless, there was a period when Church's were doing these in all types of color options (even white with yellow) and while I wanted to get one of each, I decided that I would just go with the most classic of them, as pictured here.

What I Am Wearing
If I could wear a 3-piece or double breasted suit everyday for the rest of my life, I just might consider it. And it's not that I couldn't, because it is simply just a matter of doing so, but in today's world there are many events/situations that really don't call for it. In the sense, that if I was to do so, I may be considerably overdressed in many situations. But then, I watch shows such as Boardwalk Empire, and it seems that back then they did not go anywhere or do anything without being in an elegant suit. And even though I am very grateful and happy to be from the era that I am, I always wish that we still dressed as such. There was a manner of elegance that was spread across society and even criminals were dapper Dons. But in today's world, if you showed up in a 3-piece suit to watch the football game (whether it be the American or European version), you just might get told off. What a pity.....

Edward Green's & Three-Piece Suits: Part 2
A while back I wrote a post about how I have always wanted to own Edward Green shoes and a three-piece suit and the fact that since I was now in England (earning in the British pound) it should make it easier to acquire these two things. Well, I finally got them, as I am showing you today. The only problem is that the Edward Green's are not stamped Edward Green, but rather Gieves & Hawkes. But they were made by EG, so for now that will have to do, until I get a pair from the store or something. Aside from that little oversight, I am quite pleased to have been able to get what I have always wanted. Granted, getting a three-piece suit in the States would not have been that difficult but I am a picky guy and the only options out there were way above my pay grade. And let's be fair, the tailoring in the States in no where near what it is on Savile Row. So, me being the patient one that I tend normally not to be, worked out great in the end with this made-to-measure number. And now I just need to continue building up my three-piece and double-breasted suit wardrobe....!
