What I Am Wearing

The weather in London has been a bit bonkers lately, going from 80F (27ish C) to about 55F (15ish C) in one day, the other week. Therefore, I had my first round of proper layering. I have always loved dressing for the autumn/winter rather than the spring/summer, as I believe that it takes much more imagination to coordinate multiple garments, rather than just your shirt/tie combo in the warmer weather. And the absolute best is when it's quite cold out but the sun is still shining. That way, you can still wear your suede shoes and not have to worry about ruining them. It turns out that while the weather dropped significantly in these days, the sun stayed in the sky, so I managed to incorporate them (my suedes) into this outfit, as they best suit my sport coat.

What I Am Wearing

I am really beginning to feel that when they advertise how many mega pixels are on a camera (when you buy it), I don't think that the number is accurate. These pictures (obviously taken through a mirror) seem to come out so bad, yet I have seen other bloggers do the same thing, with their iphone and the pictures come out tremendously better. Maybe I am the culprit, dysfunctional when it comes to taking photographs. Looks like I might have to take a crash course, and painfully upgrade what I thought was a decent 14 mega pixel camera?? Whatever the case, let me explain my outfit. The weather is beginning to chill down, here in London, as the summer comes to a sad end and yesterday it was feeling a bit chilly. That being, I decided to wear my flannel DB suit paired with my suede chukka boots. For me, it turned out to be a very nice match, as there is a light pinstripe in the suit, which complimented the shoes. Even though my work does not call for really dressing up, I always appreciate wearing a nice suit as it makes me feel better and more professional!

Today's Favorites - Alden

While I have never been a huge fan of Alden for their dress shoes, due to their heaviness and chunkiness, I can say that they might possibly make the best dress/casual chukka boot. They have managed to create the perfect shape, something that can go well with some smart trousers but also look amazing with a nice pair of jeans. One might think that it is easy to create such a versatile shoe, but in reality, creating a last shape that compliments many different types of outfits is not easy at all. Too pointy and it won't look good on jeans, too round and it won't look good dressed up and too disproportionate and it won't look good on anything! Therefore my compliments go out to Alden for creating something so perfect! Now, the only problem is getting a pair. Moving outside of the States has left me with the import tax that they must have being sold here in England (like Church's in the States for $750, and only 300GBP here) which will probably make them upwards of 600-700 GBP (don't quote me on that). But then again, I can always make a trip out to NYC or Hawaii one day in order to stop at Leffot or Leather Soul to get a pair!

Shoes Of The Week - World Premiere

 

Brought to you first by The Shoe Snob are these incredible new bespoke offerings in a collaboration between Carreducker and Gieves & Hawkes. As part of the Carreducker's move into the G&H shop on Savile Row, was a five shoe collaboration agreement between the two companies as a way to offer something that fit the feel of G&H but gave the bespoke uniqueness and creativity that the Carreducker duo display so often in the styles that they create. This is one of those 5 and so far, my favorite!

What I love about these boots (obviously besides the color) is the fact that such a simple idea, the middle seam, created something refreshingly different. Even though I love a nice, plain chelsea boot, they are hard to make different from each other. That being, a simple middle seam separates these boots from many of the others that you will find elsewhere. What else is great is the color swatch that they have available for their clients to choose from. Not only do they have a suede swatch with about 20 different colors but there is also a nubuck swatch, as well, that has another 20 different shades. So the options are endless....

P.S. While the boots look purple in some pictures, they are definitely not. They are some shade of blue that is quite unique but has purple tones to it. The second to last picture, below, gives the best example of the true color.
